Lucy Cavendish has a small but dedicated Mathematics community, comprising around ten Bachelors, Masters, and PhD students, and recent undergraduates have excelled in Part I, II and III of the course.

The BA in Mathematics is internationally renowned, demanding, wide-ranging and flexible, giving scope to students to determine their own work load and pattern. It offers a springboard to success in a variety of sectors, including business, commerce, industry and academia.

Further information about the course can be found on the Faculty and University websites.

Course Requirements

Whilst we have in the past accepted applicants with a variety of British and international qualifications, we do need to see evidence of a high standard in Mathematics: a good A-level in Mathematics and A- or AS-level Further Mathematics (or the equivalent) are essential for entry to both the Mathematics and Mathematics with Physics courses. Prior study of Physics is not a requirement for single-track Mathematics, but applicants for Mathematics with Physics will need A-level Physics (or equivalent). Our offers invariably include STEP Mathematics.

See the general Entrance Requirements and FAQ for more information about our academic conditions. You can also contact our Admissions Office with queries.

Admissions Assessment

There is no common format written assessment for Maths.  Applicants invited for interview at Lucy Cavendish will be asked to sit a one hour subject test on the day of their interviews.
