Literary agent Anna Hogarty signed up author Leslie Sanderson for her novel On The Edge, only two months after it was shortlisted for the prestigious Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize.

Leslie started writing her first novel On The Edge in April 2016 and submitted the first chapter to secure a place on a Curtis Brown writing course. She then entered a synopsis and the first chapters of the novel into the 2017 Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, where it was shortlisted from a total of 385 entries. The novel didn’t win the competition, but Leslie was contacted shortly after the awards ceremony by Hayley Steed from Madeleine Milburn Agency, who introduced her to Anna Hogarty, who will now represent Leslie.

Leslie said:

“I’m thrilled to be working with people who are so excited about my novel. Lucy Cavendish really has made my dreams come true!”
