Sara Teasdale (1884-1933) was a lyric poet who won many awards for poetry including the Pulitzer in 1918 for her anthology Love Songs. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri. In this poem, she writes about a longing for a passionate love which will "leave me deaf and blind.
