Join our creative community!

by Shoko Hirosue on 7 March 2017

The Lucy Cavendish Art Society hosted its first big painting social event on Thursday 16th February. More than 20 people enjoyed some time off from work, and let their imaginations run free with various art supplies including pastels, watercolours and acrylic paints. We were delighted to have such a great turnout.

The society was set up in November 2016 to create and cultivate a vibrant art community at Lucy Cavendish College, through fun and friendly painting, craft sessions and trips to exhibitions. We hope to provide more opportunities for College members to be involved in creative activities; just what you need to make you feel happy and relaxed.

This term, the society has been working with the Lucy Cavendish Library and Fine Arts committee to encourage the artists at the College to enter the Lucy Cavendish Art and Photography Competition 2017 hosted by the Library. This year’s theme is ‘Inspiration’ and entries in any artistic medium from all College members are accepted. Please submit your entries to the Library by 5pm on Friday 31st March. For further details, please follow the Society link below.

Following requests for regular sessions, we have decided to hold painting sessions every two weeks for the rest of Lent term. Full art supplies are provided as usual, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. The next session will be at 7pm on 16th March, at Lucy Cavendish Library downstairs in the Group Study Room.

Every College member is welcome to join the society. Follow the link and let us keep you updated for any further events (https://www.facebook.com/groups/178701925924258/). We are also looking for new committee members for 2017-2018, so please feel free to get in touch.
