Welcome to Nautilus 11

by Judith Roberts on 8 May 2017

Welcome to Nautilus 11, our final edition for this academic year. In this issue we celebrate a range of Lucy Cavendish Lawyers, who took up a variety of legal careers after their time in Cambridge. We are also happy to include a memoir by Jillinda Tiley, who was Director of Studies for Law during the time of all our contributors, and who is much loved and admired by many at Lucy Cavendish. We hope that you enjoy reading their stories.

The Lucy Cavendish College Alumnae Association has been very active this year, enjoying a wide range of events and visits, in addition to supporting the College and the student body. In the Lent Term we arranged a tour of the Royal Opera House, where 17 alumnae had a wonderful morning, followed by a convivial Italian lunch, while closer to home we visited two historic libraries, the Parker at Corpus Christi College and The Pepys at Magdalene College.

You will see in Nautilus 11 that we have arranged two visits for the summer term: a riverboat trip on the Thames to Greenwich, combined with a tour of the Royal Observatory; also a visit to the historic Cressing Temple Barns, near Braintree, Essex. We hope you will join us on one or both of these.

We are very pleased to now be in a position to offer a second student bursary, for graduate students commencing a one-year course. This will be in addition to the bursary that we already offer and two annual student prizes. We would like to thank our alumnae for their continued support.

The annual College Garden Party will take place on 16th June, where the Alumnae Association will have a stand, so keep your eyes open for us. We look forward to meeting our alumnae friends there – do please come and introduce yourself.
