Combined College Football Team beats Oxford’s Wadham College

22 January 2018

Our combined Football Team 'Cavendish-Christ-Churchill' beat Oxford’s Wadham College at the weekend at a match which took place as part of a 'Sports Day' organised with Christ's College, which was concluded with a special Sports Formal Hall at Wadham College..

The team is currently top of the second division of the Cambridge University College Women's Football League and participates in the Plate games, which it won last year. The Cambridge University Association Football League (CUAFL) is the primary league for college football. It involves approximately 900 players, with 58 teams competing across six divisions and four cup competitions - the highest participation of any sport at the university. Merging with other colleges provides our players with a great opportunity to mix with new people and to share resources and the team meets for weekly games, training and social activities.

Team Co-Captain, Josefina Weinerova said:

"It was a great game even though the weather was against us and the sportsmanship and hospitality of all Wadham teams made it an even better experience."

Do you fancy joining this winning team? Josefina is looking for more players, regardless of whether you have played before or not. You can find out more on the team's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CCCWomensFootball/
