The combined Hughes Hall Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club Women (HHLCCBC) entered three crews to this year’s May Bumps.
Overall, the crews performed incredibly well over the four days with a Pegasus Cup score of 44, taking them to the top of the league table. W2 qualified for blades by bumping up every day of the race.
The final day was celebrated by alumnae, donors, Fellows, staff and rowers with their families at a party on the banks of the Cam, very kindly hosted in a beautiful private meadow by Caroline Stenner and Ray Smith. All three crews bumped up on the final day, W2 timing their collision to occur straight in front of the party to huge applause (view a short film here).
College President Jackie Ashley said:
“Many congratulations to our rowers for a fantastic result!
Thanks to our generous hosts Caroline and Ray, and to our donors including Dame Veronica Sutherland (previously President of the College) who bought our new boat, Speedwell. Thanks also to everyone who came out to cheer on our crews.
The Bumps Party was organised by Jo Ryan and Tom Dawson from the Development Team, and many attendees have already offered their thanks and congratulations for a job very well done.”
You can view a film made by the University of Cambridge and starring our rowers here.
