The Dean’s role is to aid in ensuring that:
1- College members live in a safe, secure, friendly and courteous environment and that there are no impediments to learning arising from disturbances or difficult behaviour.
2- College property is protected for the enjoyment of current and future generations of College members
3- The College’s reputation with the outside world, as an educational institution and as a good neighbour, is protected.

As a mature College, we anticipate that students will have experience of working in a professional environment along with an understanding of the responsibilities that this entails. Thus the College expects all of its members to treat each other with respect, courtesy and consideration at all times. The “Lucy atmosphere” is a culture which encourages positive, supportive and open interactions and we all work towards maintaining this environment.

The Dean works closely with the Students Union representatives and members of staff to ensure good communications. In all matters the Dean will draw heavily on the relevant sections of the College’s Statutes and Ordinances. In matters relating to College accommodation the Dean will ensure that the UUK Code of Practice is followed.

Parties in College
We aim to strike the right balance between study time and relaxation and recreation time as the College is a place for social interaction as well as for study.

Parties held in College public rooms must be approved by the Dean. Ask for a form from the Domestic Bursar’s Assistant (or print one out from here) and check with the Domestic Bursar that the required rooms are available. Fill out the form and leave it in the Dean’s pigeonhole. All catering and drinks for these parties must be arranged by the Domestic Bursar.
