To celebrate the Year of Mathematical Biology, Lucy Cavendish College is inviting female mature students to explore some of the intriguing connections between mathematics and the biological sciences.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to two groups: girls studying at a standard age UK state school who are starting Year 11 or Year 12 in September 2018, and women over 20 who, for any reason, are currently studying for their A-levels in the UK. There will be separate prizes for each of these cohorts.
To enter the competition you will need to choose one of the two projects. The first part of the project will consist of mathematical questions on topics you may not have encountered before. The second, and most important, part is the project question. This is an unstructured question, with no one right answer. For the project question, you can explore the subject in any way you want, and in the end you'll write up what you've discovered and created. Find out more by clicking the link here.
