About Kathryn Jones
Kathryn Jones is a Senior Curator of Decorative Arts for Royal Collection Trust and has recently published a catalogue of European Silver in the Collection. This talk will look at the princely tradition of collecting cabinets of curiosities as a way of exploring the wider world and demonstrating artistic sensibilities and will look at some of the great treasures amassed by monarchs from the seventeenth century onwards, among them nautilus shells, amber, rock crystal, gemstones and works of silver and gold.
