Cambridge crew is fastest Women’s Eight for second year at Quintin Head

30 January 2018

Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club (CUWBC) retained the title of the fastest women's crew at Quintin Head at the weekend (Saturday 27 January) and we cheered on Lucy Cavendish student Myriam Goudet-Boukhatmi in the Elite category.

The crew fought off competition from the University of London, Molesey, and Thames RC to repeat the success of 2017. They races over a section of the Boat Race course starting at the University Post (The Boat Race finish line) and racing to Harrods Depositry. The CUWBC boats for Quintin Head were formed following a successful training camp in Banyoles, Spain.

The second women’s crew won in the Senior category, and rowed faster than all other boats in the Elite category making it the second fastest crew overall.

The event marks the start of a busy few months for the Club leading up the Cancer Research UK Boat Races on Saturday 24 March 2018.

Myriam said:

“I think it was a very positive weekend. It was our first race in eight this season and we were very excited to see the potential of the crew. The selection is not over and there is still a lot to work on but it was a first benchmark. We managed to find a very good rhythm and they were very good vibes in the boat. I am looking forward to racing again!”
