Our combined Football Team 'Cavendish-Christ-Churchill' won the Plate Finals last weekend, scoring 8:1 in their final match. Lucy Cavendish provides the highest numbers of players to the team (our players pictured to the right).
The Cambridge University Association Football League (CUAFL) is the primary league for college football. It involves approximately 900 players, with 58 teams competing across six divisions and four cup competitions - the highest participation of any sport at the University.
Our combined Colleges team is currently top of the second league, but may now move up to the first league. Merging with other colleges provides our players with a great opportunity to mix with new people and to share resources and the team meets for weekly games, training and social activities.
Team Co-Captain, Josefina Weinerova said:
"It was a well-deserved victory after a great season! Big shout out not only to those who have played in the final but also those who have shown up for games throughout the last two terms.
While there are no competition games in Easter Term, we are hoping to organize a few friendly matches. Also, we will be possibly moving up to 1st league next year which will be very exciting."
